Bird Watching

This is supposed to be the ideal time for bird watching here and the best place to start is your own back garden. Although the above picture was taken in the small car park at the back of our apartments, there is no shortage of  birds as you can see. Still looking for the name of the species and will update this space once I find it.

Another view, this time on the roof tops!

An Orange a day....

I admit that the only reason I picked up this particular Orange from the store was because it still had the stalk and leaf intact. Doesnt the green of the leaf and Orange, the colour I mean, make a great combination?

Moon gazing....

I know it should be star gazing, but expecting my humble Fujifilm Camera to capture the stars will be too ambitious. The above pic is a result of a bet with the hubby who said that my camera will not be able to get anything if I point it towards the dark sky. Now I couldnt have him underestimating my faithful & loyal camera, so there we are, proving to him that there is more to a point and shoot camera than we sometimes give them credit for!

Spice it up

This is the one thing in my kitchen that is an absolute necessity. The 'traditional' spice box containing the spices that are used most frequently in day to day cooking.

Clockwise starting from the top - Mustard seeds, Cumin seeds, Turmeric Powder, Red Chilli Powder, Dry Coriander powder, Goda Masala and in the middle, Garam Masala.

Spotted!

Although Police vehicles with their ear splitting sirens are regularly seen on the roads, this is a rare sight. The fact that we spotted it, from within the confines of our home and recognised it to be different (A Police Helicopter) from a regular Helicopter made it even more exciting! This was clicked using the maximum possible zoom on the camera and from the window of the living room.

Day 4 - Variable x

This X was made by the vapour trails left by 2 aircrafts. As I have just found out, these vapour trails are called contrails, details here.

Now, x intantly reminds me of all those algebra equations, with it being the variable. But why is x almost always the first choice for a variable? This might answer it!

Day 3 - The Lion

Liam, the lion, is to all the kids at Shreya's Nursery what Michael Jackson was (or is) to a lot of people. He actually is just a cuddly toy given to any kid who has done something special for the day. The child has to take Liam home for the day, take care of him, play with him and then draw something on the sheet of paper provided and return Liam the next day along with this drawing. S got it today and was visibly excited even though she has already got it quite a few times. As she came out of the nursery holding Liam in her hand, I could see her wide grin, the excitement in her eyes and other kids looking enviously at her! In fact this is the first piece of news the kids share with whoever comes to pick them up - who got Liam for the Day!
